Networking SalesPartner Version 14 using MariaDB Part 2.

Part 2. Configure a client PC on the Local Area Network

Requirements: SalesPartner 14 is installed and updated to the latest version on the target workstation, and the device is connected to the same local area network as the server in Part 1.

1. Lookup the IPv4 address of the server

On the server you configured in Part 1, open a Command Prompt window and enter ipconfig to lookup the IPv4 address of the server that the client workstation will be connecting to.

2. Create a New Connection Definition on the client PC

On the client workstation open the FDAdministrator.

C:\spartner\FDAdministrator.exe

1. Click New under the Objects Explorer and rename the connection MariaDB.
   
2. Under the Driver ID for the new definition select MySQL.
   
3. Enter the Database name salespartner.
   
4. Enter the username and password.
   
5. In the Server field enter the IPv4 address of the server from step 1.
   
6. Right-click the new definition and Apply.
   

To review the new connection definition open:

C:\spartner\FDConnectionDefs.ini

3. Create a new desktop shortcut

Create a copy of the existing SalesPartner desktop shortcut and rename it SalesPartner MariaDB.

Right click the new shortcut, open Properties and enter the target path for the MariaDB definition then click Apply.

C:\spartner\rezy.exe /db=MariaDB

4. Testing and Next Steps

Run the two instances in parallel then create and compare new records as well as read, write, and delete events.

The INI sharing paths for Pics1 and letter/report Templates are shared in the standard fashion.
