Using alias switching, a single workstation can be set up to access numerous different copies of SalesPartner. For example a virtual PA's computer could be set up with definitions to connect to several different databases for remote work. Or a sales team leader could setup a desktop icon to access their office's admin data, alongside a separate icon to manage their own contact database. Typically though a workstation will only access one copy of SalesPartner.
When an update is installed, the REZY default definition connection is launched on completion. So for simplicity the intended connection definitions can be pasted over the top of the standard REZY connections in C:\spartner\FDConnectionDefs.ini. This ensures that instead of loading the (often empty) default database the desired connection is established. It also means that the standard desktop icon always connected to the intended database.
