Follow this guide to transfer or copy contacts from one copy of SalesPartner into another. This method is useful when a salesperson wishes to give their contacts to another SalesPartner user, and also when moving standalone agent databases into a central e.g Cloud database.
Step 1: Source copy / Salesperson instance
In the source copy of SalesPartner open Contacts and select contacts for export. Click Tools > Export Contacts
Under Available Fields select the Contact table and click Add All fields for Selected Table.
In Selected Fields scroll down and select Contact.FullName then press Delete to remove it. This is because Contact.FullName is a concatenated field and will override the name syntax of your contacts. So it's best to remove it if you're moving contacts from SalesPartner to SalesPartner. Click OK to continue and save your SalesPartnerExport.CSV file.
Step 2: Destination Copy / Cloud instance
On the destination copy of SalesPartner open More > Import Data > Import Contact CSV, and select the CSV file you created in Step 1.
Select Match Fields to automatically detect and link compatible SalesPartner fields, then click Next.
Consider Deleting the default fixed field for Status Active. Your source file will already include the Status field. This default option exists so that you can automatically read-in all contacts as active - assuming you were importing them from Gmail or elsewhere for example.
Add Fixed Field can be useful where you wish to tag contacts for later filtering. Tip: Use the Other1-5 fields for this scenario because filtering is supported for the custom Other fields.
Notes:
- Take backups so you can retry if required.
- Review source and destination Groups tables to see if they need to be rearranged in order to persist group types.
- Activity is not included - to transfer activity from SalesPartner to SalesPartner you could synchronize contacts instead.
